Gordon Slips In Dakar Rally
NASCAR Sprint Cup owner/driver Robby Gordon finished 12th in Monday’s third stage of the Dakar Rally but gave up significant time to new leader Stephane Peterhansel in the leg that ran from La Rioja to Fiambala, Argentina.
Gordon and teammate Andy Grider finished the third stage an hour and almost 5 minutes overall behind the frontrunner, France’s Peterhansel.
Trouble getting through the dunes with the Hummer’s restrictor plate as well as transmission problems plauged the Hummer team in the third stage, which they had hoped would be one of their stronger days.
The 14-stage offroad event continues Tuesday with a stage that runs from Fiambala to Copiaco, Chile.
